DIY Hot Chocolate Kit – Blogmas Day 15

IMG_5343.JPG

I feel like I’ve been droning on about taking care of yourself the whole of blogmas now, but I really believe that between all the family drama and consumer chaos, you need to take some time for yourself! Plus, it’s freezing outside, so why would you want to leave the house if you can stay inside with a hot beverage instead? I might be a bit biased though, seeing as I’m currently cuddled into a cozy blanket with a christmas film on and drinking a hot cup of tea…

This would make a great secret santa gift or a little bonus present if you’re giving someone a book or DVD. It’s one of those gifts you can throw together at the last minute, but it’s still something nice the recipient can actually use. Plus, it looks super pretty!

I literally just layered cocoa powder, mini marshmallows and dark chocholate chips in a glass jar. I used a mason jar with a handle in this case, because I thought it would be nice if my friend could actually drink her hot chocolate from this… You can of course variate this as you like. You could use white cocoa powder and chocolate chips if you really like sweet stuff, or layer smashed pieces of candy canes for a hint of peppermint in your hot chocolate.

Then I taped some chalkboard foil on top of the mason jar, partly to cover the straw hole this particular jar had, but also because everything always looks cuter with chalkboard…

Tie some christmas tree sprigs or a candy cone to the jar with some string and boom! It looks super put together…

What do you put in your hot chocolate? I like to add some Amaretto or my home-made gingerbread liqueur to spice it up a little, but I couldn’t for the life of me find nice small bottles to add them to this. So people’ll just have to come to my house to get their spiked hot chocolate!

Love, H.
