How to: Make A Quick Fancy Breakfast

I don’t know about you, but I have always been one of those people that don’t really like to eat that early in the day. Especially if you have to get up early for school/ uni/ work, I would way prefer to sleep those extra five minutes instead of having breakfast. So getting up at the last possible minute and having a coffee to-go was my usual morning routine. Which is why I never understood people saying breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Recently though, I haven’t been able to sleep past 7 am anyway, so I might as well get up and make myself some breakfast.

Since I haven’t been brainwashed though, I’m still lazy and also still late most days. So I never tend to have a lot of time for making breakfast. Sometimes I do want to treat myself though, so I have collected quite a few breakfast foods that are quick and easy to make and look fancy at the same time.

This was my breakfast last Saturday and it literally took me 15 minutes to throw together. (Let’s not talk about the time it took me to take a nice photo of it though…)

Obviously you could easily just have some croissants or toast and jam for breakfast, I prefer a slightly more hearty meal though, some yoghurt with berries is sweet enough for me.

This tomato and mozzarella baguette is my go-to breakfast item if I’m making a little bit of effort. It’s so quick and easy to do, just lightly roast some tomatoes either in the oven or in a pan, cut up some mozzarella into little pieces (or slices if you prefer), drizzle a lot of balsamic vinegar over it (here I used a creamier balsamico because it looks prettier, but I usually just drench my whole plate with the normal stuff) and garnish the whole thing with some fresh basil if you have some at home or are simply feeling extra fancy. And you’re done!

Now for the most important part of breakfast: COFFEE! I usually have one of those Senseo machines, but lately I’ve reallly enjoyed using my french press as kind of a morning ritual. You know, it takes a lot longer to boil water, let the coffee steep for a while and then press that thing down, but it’s also a lot sexier than just pushing a button. And it sort of fills the whole kitchen with the smell of coffee… ugh, I love it!

I’m not sure how this turned into love poem for coffee, but that feels like an oddly accurate metaphore for my life… Anyway, that was the really quick fancy breakfast I made and please excuse the poor quality of the photos, I didn’t have my camera with me.

If you have any other ideas for different types of breakfast foods that don’t take forever, please tell me, caus I’m always on the hunt for new recipes!

Love, H.
