I don’t know about you, but I absolutely LOVE summer. Sitting in the sun and basically living in flowy dresses just makes me so happy! And then the smell of wet concrete in that warm summer rain… that and a new book might be my favourite smells ever!
What I don’t love about summer though is living in the attic storey of a really old house. Let me tell you, I don’t need a sauna, I just have to move the slightest bit in my room. So I take every opportunity to leave the house and try and spend as much time as possible in a park or by the river. And since I’m one of those people who have to be eating CONSTANTLY, a picnic is the obvious activity for summer days.
Plus, it is SO easy to make a picnic look super swanky on a pretty low budget. Now I have a picnic basket that was a birthday present from my mum one year, but if you don’t have one, but still want that rustic look for your picnic, you could just look for any wooden box or basket you may have laying around. The one I brought on this particular picnic is the one that usually holds all my baking utensils… And if you come up empty, don’t worry, just spread all the yummy things you bring directly on the blanket.
The sky is quite literally the limit when it comes to what to pack for a picnic. So this is less of a recipe and more og a how-to kind of post. Sandwiches, salads, fruit or baked goods are just a few go-to items for me. The only thing you absolutely have to bring is enough fluids! Pack a big bottle of water or some nice juice. If you’re looking for a way to spice up your water, have a look at these Fruity Ice Cubes.
This week I met up with my friend for a little quality bonding time over – you might have guessed it – a picnic. So here is what I packed into my Mary Poppins bag…
I hope you’re enjoying the sun wherever you are and let me know what you bring on a picnic!
